Can I sell research chemicals on Stripe, Shopify Payments or PayPal?
This is the only category on the page where Stripe's prohibition hangs on a single word, and the word is not "research". Stripe prohibits incorrectly labelled research chemicals. A genuine laboratory supplier with accurate labelling is in a materially different position from a consumer store using the term as cover.

What actually happens
Accounts in this category are usually closed on a manual review rather than a transaction pattern, and the review is triggered by the site rather than the payments. The distinction between a supplier serving institutions and a store serving individuals is visible from the homepage, and that is where the decision is actually made.
What works instead
If you genuinely supply laboratories, lean into every part of that: institutional purchase orders, accurate CAS labelling, no consumer dosing, no capsules. That is a real position and it can be underwritten. If you are selling to individuals, the research label is not protecting you and a specialist acquirer will price you as what you are.
